Each of the RoadRelay 4 software
calibrations is in a zip file. The calibration tool install program
sets up the
correct COM port, data
link, and protocol
so that
a RoadRelay 4 software calibration can be downloaded to your RoadRelay
4. The steps for running the RoadRelay
4 software download are listed below.
Make the proper connections
between the PC you are using to download the RoadRelay 4 software
and the RoadRelay 4. You can either use the RS-232 data extraction
cable (only for 40059XX models of the Roadrelay 4) between the RoadRelay
4 and the PC, or you can use a Cummins INLINE adapter and data link
cable interface between the PC and
either
the
J1708/J1587
or J1939
public data link. If you have a 40032XX model of RoadRelay 4, you
must use the data link interface option.
Turn the vehicle key switch
to the "On" position.
Check the model number (40059XX
or 40032XX) of your RoadRelay 4 (you can find this on the label on
the back of the unit) and also check the software bootloader
and application
versions by pressing key 5 and selecting "Software Version."
Download one of the RoadRelay
4 zip files by clicking on the desired button above (the "A" calibration
is the standard calibration for RoadRelay 4 and works with all models,
while the "E" extended memory calibration is for Portuguese and Italian
language
support
and will work only on 40059XX models).
Unzip the calibration
file and save it in whatever folder you prefer on your PC.
Select the correct
PC COM port, data link, and protocol. Choose the calibration file
you just downloaded into your preferred folder.
Select "Start." The calibration
tool utility will now download the latest software calibration into
your RoadRelay 4. The RoadRelay 4 will "beep" twice and the display
will go blank. It takes approximately 5 minutes to download a calibration
over the J1939 data link, while it takes about 25 minutes to download
a calibration over the J1587 data link or the RS-232 serial port.
After the download has completed,
verify
that the correct software is now in your RoadRelay 4 by pressing
key 5 and selecting "Software Version." The bottom number is the
application version and it should match the name of the ".cal" file
you just downloaded.

4 calibration tool HelpMe text file.
